Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I hope you will join me for a cup of tea!

My DIY tea advent calendar recap

My DIY tea advent calendar recap

This year in the spirit of drinking the teas that I already own, I DIYed my own tea advent calendar with teas from my collection. I got a large envelope and decorated the front with a dot for each day leading up to Christmas. I’m very proud of myself because I reused scraps of paper I had saved from a previous DIY project. Then I selected 24 teas from my collection, printed out each one on a separate strip of paper and put all of them into the envelope. Each day I was randomly drawing one and voila’, I had my DIY tea advent calendar. Each day I posted on Instagram what tea had been randomly selected.

Here’s a photo recap of it with all the details.

Here are my final thoughts:

  • Best tea for the wintertime: Tangerine Puer. The essence of the season, distilled into a small but mighty flavor package.

  • Most festive tea: Yuzu stuffed with Korean black tea. Yuzu reminds me of my pre-Christmas trip to Japan a few years ago and that’s all I need to get into the holiday spirit.

  • Easier tea to pair with Christmas cookies: Barrel aged Chiang Rai black tea from Thailand. If you like bold flavor and whiskey, this is easily going to become a favorite. It’s perfect for all sort of sweet flavor combinations.

  • Most compatible for tea lattes: Kamo natural matcha. This matcha packs a flavorful punch and has some bitterness to it which makes it the perfect companion to an unsweetened almond milk.

  • Best tea to keep you awake on Zoom calls: Master’s Green. An aged green tea that borders light oolong, this tea is so fragrant, it will awaken all your senses.
